A happy customer sent me the BEST photo! It’s a portrait of Ekko, her Eastern Rosella, posing next to one of my mini-prints, (which itself features an Eastern Rosella). So cute!
Happy Customer
Friday, July 27th, 2012Seduced by Facebook
Wednesday, July 18th, 2012Last month I woke one day to find my online Etsy shop had almost sold out, and had miles of messages from people asking for more. After some silent astonishment, then gasps of excitement, I went off hunting, trying to discover where all this sudden attention had come from…
Etsy had featured my wombat pillowcases on their facebook page!!!
And then not long after, on their homepage!!!
My “online-seller” hopes and dreams had finally come true. I had a very busy month.
Now that things are slowing back down again, I have been seduced by the attention and have set up my own facebook page. A little late to the party I know, but still I’m here:
Please come visit 🙂
A Broken Hill Wedding
Friday, June 29th, 2012One of the things I love most about doing personal commissions is getting the feedback at the end. It’s always a nervous wait for me, not knowing if they will like it or not.
When I love something I gush, leaving no uncertainty as to how I feel. There it is people, I’m a gusher. So when I come across others who gush it MAKES MY DAY!
Now, rewind to the beginning of the story…
Recently I was asked by a kind young lady to paint a commission as a gift for her very dear friends. It was to be a scene of their recent wedding at Broken Hill, and was to include animals they identify with, their pets, and something to represent the future of their happy marriage.
Inspired by the arid setting and all the details, I set to work…
And soon I was done!
She was thrilled with the outcome. Then she gave it to her friends and they loved it too. So this time I got two sets of feedback! THEN, they posted a pic of it on their Facebook, so it got even more nice feedback!!! All gushing with such kind words, my days were made for MONTHS! 🙂
Endless thank-you’s to Megan, Regan and Chris.
SCART at Acme et al
Monday, June 11th, 2012Great idea for a show right?!
Acme et al is a gallery in Yarra Glen, VIC, who endlessly support my work. A bunch of genuine, kind, art-wise people, who as you can see, come up with innovative ideas.
Though I’m not a scarf maker, I know many of you out there are very talented with things that be knitty, so I thought you might like to know about this. Not only to see the show, but to submit your own work. There’s only a few days left to enter… So, go on!
Entry details are here.

Art Lab For Kids
Tuesday, May 1st, 2012
Art Lab For Kids is a wonderful new book by Susan Schwake, the mastermind behind artstream studios. It’s a source of ideas and lessons for creating all manner of different art with children… mind you I learnt a couple of new things from it too.
Beautifully photographed and clearly laid out, it steps you through 52 different art styles, each relating to a particular artist; a type of “how to achieve their look” guide.
And I am delighted to be one of the artists! I’m on the watercolour and pencil page.
The book is lovely, meaty and inspiring. You can buy it online here, and find out more about it here.
Family Portrait Commission
Monday, March 19th, 2012A few months back I did a commission for a very musical family. Craig and Elke were about to be married after having been together for years and years, and wanted something special to mark this time in their lives together (along with their gorgeous daughter and beloved pooch).
Craig had proposed to Elke by taking her for a walk on the beach and letting her find a message in a bottle he had planted there earlier. A-MAZ-ING!
I included lots of instruments and musical elements in the painting too, to represent the passion they have for their band “Pachooka“. The picture was to be printed on beer coolers for their wedding. Hope it was unforgettable guys.
Lifestyle Asia Magazine
Friday, March 16th, 2012This month Lifestyle Asia magazine published a lovely big four glossy-paged feature of my work. If you can read chinese you can read the interview, if not the stylish design and layout is worth a look in itself, the Chinese characters make it look so fancy! Big thanks to Ambrosia for the interview (and whoever designed the beautiful layout). Pick the magazine up in Sydney if you feel like a look.
