The months leading up to Christmas are always busy with commission orders. This season was no different. Commissions this year spread from the Blue Mountains to Winnipeg in Canada!

Christmas Commissions
Monday, December 29th, 2008An Artful Agenda
Saturday, November 29th, 2008“An Artful Agenda is a hip, unique daily planner with a hand-drawn image for each day of the year. Each week’s artwork is centered around a theme such as vintage toys, yoga poses or sock monkeys.”
The 2009 diary/daily planner featured art from 18 artists, and my artworks are all through it.
They sold out fast! But production for next year’s planner is already underway!
Style Magazine
Friday, October 17th, 2008A big thank-you to Style Magazine, and writer Kate Hennessy, for running a story about my art in the September issue. The article spoke about the influence that the environment of my new town has had on my art. Especially the 20 new works sent to the “Affirmations” exhibition in N.H. America.
Affirmations Exhibition
Monday, September 29th, 2008The Affirmations exhibition, that I’m part of at artstream studios in New Hampshire, USA, opened at the start of September.
I made twenty new works exclusively for this show, to hang alongside paintings by Penelope Dullaghan, stencil works by Amy Rice, and softy sculptures by Sian Keegan.
Each of us interpreted our ideas of “affirmations” and responded with images of how and where we source our own positivity. Coincidentally all of our works have come together sharing a strong theme of nature, so I’m told the gallery is looking very bright, joyous and flowery right now 🙂
The exhibition runs through to the end of October, and all works can be purchased online here until then. Feel free to contact me for more information.
Visit the Gallery section of this site to see some of the works in the show.
Kate Hennessy’s Site
Monday, September 22nd, 2008Kate Hennessy is an old friend and a great writer, plus she has a very very good library of CDs. After working for various companies and agencies as a writer and editor, she finally decided to take the plunge and go freelance. For this she needed a website where could showcase her work, sort articles into subject categories to send to various editors, and also have somewhere a little more fun to document her amazing trans-Siberian travels. This is the site we designed and set-up for her; www.katehennessy.com.au.
PikaPackage
Sunday, August 31st, 2008August will see the launch of a few new things I craftied up, including keyrings (featuring my illos) and enviro encourangement card sets (more about those in the coming months).
These, with a bunch of prints, and postcards are making their way to Malaysia to be part of some ‘artists lucky dip’ PikaPackages at Pikaland.
How long has it been since you’ve had a lucky dip prize? All good fun!
The items I mentioned were made exclusively for these packages. But once that’s finished I’ll be making some for everyone else 🙂
New Work for Show
Tuesday, July 29th, 2008I didn’t see alot of Winter during June or July; tucked away safe and warm in my studio, busily working on new paintings. I’ve been invited to show 20 works in an upcoming exhibition at artstream studios in America in September and October. So the past few months have been absorbed with creating new work for the show. This being the largest body of work I’ve made for a single show in a very long time.
I’m really excited about this exhibition! I’ll share the details and images when it launches.
Curvy 2008
Friday, May 16th, 2008The fifth issue of Curvy hit the stands this month. Curvy is a limited edition art book released annually, featuring “100 of the most exciting female graphic artists and illustrators from over 20 countries around the world”. I am thrilled to have been recognised among them this year, with my ‘extreme up-doo’ illustration being included in Curvy 5.
The book is available from art gallery bookstores, good arty bookshops, and the occasional really good newsagent. You can also buy it online.
Shop Update:
I’ve added postcards into my store this month, ‘extreme up-doo’ is among them. So if you’re a bit low on cash, you can still get a little bit of art with a little bit of spare change.
